These beloved fathers, mothers, sisters, brothers, children and friends are special individuals who are part of the close-knit Joplin community. They will be forever remembered for their courage, love, and dedication to their families, their friends, and the City of Joplin.

Age: 27
Adam Dewane Darnaby, age 27, was born May 26, 1983 in Joplin. His parents were Ronald Wayne and Janet (Moore) Darnaby. He was raised in the Galena-Riverton KS area. He had earned an Associate of Electrical Technology Degree at Pittsburg State University. He was employed as an electrician at Jasper Products.He attended the House of Prayer and the Riverton Friends Church. He enjoyed fast cars, including racing and going 4-wheeling. He loved doing anything outdoors especially Cat Fishing.
Adam was married to Kaitlin E Kissee on September 6, 2008 in Riverton, KS. She survives. Additional survivors include his parents Ron and Janet Darnaby, Riverton, KS; his maternal “little Grandma”, Galena, KS, 2 brothers Matthew Darnaby, Joplin, MO and, Aaron Darnaby, Riverton, KS ; his father and mother in law, Ron and Debbie Kissee, Galena, KS; Nieces and Nephews, Kaleigh, Sanna, Dayton, Kaden, Madison, Courtney, Dawson, Bryson, Brandt, Victoria, Madelynn, Kaylee, and Carter.
He was preceded in death by grandparents, Carl R. Moore, Herbert and Hazel Darnaby.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Adam Darnaby Electrical School Scholarship Fund in care of the funeral home.

Age: 74
Patricia Dawson, age 74, of Joplin, MO died on Sunday, May 22, 2011, at her home as a result of the tornado in Joplin MO. Mrs. Dawson was born in Kansas City, MO on Friday, January 01, 1937. She was the daughter of Jack and Ruth (McKinley) Sears. She was a homemaker and a member of the Temple Baptist Church in Springfield, Mo.She is survived by the following: three sons, Jerry Dawson of Springfield, MO, John Dawson of Pierce City, MO, and James Dawson of Saint Louis, MO; three sisters, Jane Wimer of Joplin, MO, Nancy Fox of Springfield, MO, and Barbara Taylor of Buffalo, MO; her former husband, Donald Dawson of Springfield, MO; three grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Memorial services will be held at Ridgecrest Baptist Church in Springfield, MO on Saturday, June 04, 2011 beginning at 2:00 PM with Hosea Bilyeu officiating.
Age: 52
Michael Wayne Dennis, age 52 of Galena, Kan., passed away at 11:57 p.m. on Friday, June 10, 2011 at St. John’s Medical Center in Springfield, from complications due to injuries he sustained in the May 22nd Joplin tornado, while he was a patient at St. John’s Regional Medical Center in Joplin.Born April, 7, 1959 in Parsons, Kan., he was the son of the late Wayne Dennis and Shirley Cowley Dennis and lived in the Columbus and Baxter Springs, Kan. areas most of his lifetime. Michael was disabled and never worked. He enjoyed comic books and PlayStation.
Survivors include his uncles and cousins.
Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Parker Mortuary. No public services are planned. Interment will be in Parsons, Kan. at a later date.

Age: 94
Nancy Elizabeth Douthitt, age 94 of Joplin, passed away from injuries sustained in a tornado on May 22, 2011Born September 5, 1916 in Newtonia, MO, she was the daughter of the late Virgil A. Thornberry and Ether Virginia Hendrickson. She is a member of St. Pauls United Methodist Church, St. John’s Prestige, and also a former member of Surviving Spouses.
She married Curtis W. Douthitt on January 12, 1937 and together they owned and operated Douthitt Grocery Store on 202 N. Gray in Joplin from 1947-1987. Curtis preceded her in death on November 27, 1989.
She is survived by one son, Robert (Bob) Douthitt and his wife Jean of Tulsa, OK; one brother, Walter Thornberry of Mt. Vernon, MO; one sister, Lenore Rhodes of Homer, IL; three grandchildren, James, Thomas and Cathleen; and eight great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her daughter Barbara Douthitt, and one sister, Genevieve Robinson.
Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m., Thursday June 2, 2011 at the Parker Mortuary Chapel with Anna Jean Dye officiating. Interment will follow at Osborne Memorial Cemetery. Memorial Contributions may be made to the American Heart Association.

Age: 75
Ellen Jeanette Doyle, age 75, of Joplin, Mo., passed away on May 22, 2011, at her home, from injuries sustained in the catastrophic tornado.Ellen was born on November 29, 1935 in Carthage, Mo, the daughter of the late Raymond C. Kennell and the late Mary Virginia Pace. She has been a resident of Joplin Area her entire life. She was a homemaker. She was a member of College Heights Christian Church. Ellen loved spending time with her family, going out to eat, and shopping. She will be greatly missed by all of her family and friends.
She married Keith Doyle on February 19, 1954 at Forest Park Baptist Church in Joplin. He preceded her in death September of 2003. Survivors include two daughters, Susan Brookshire and special friend Mario Morales; Terri Branham and her husband Randy, five grandchildren, Jason Brookshire and his wife Stephanie, Lesa Branham, Stephanie Sargent and husband Jeremy, Jamie Fort and husband Matt; five great-grandchildren, Tamerik Branham, Jasmine Sargent, Lilly Sargent, Kaden Fort and Jarett Fort; three brothers Jerry Kennell, Grandview, Mo., Bud Kennell and wife Dolly, Harbor City, Ca., and Johnnie Kennell, Kansas City, Mo.; two sisters, Carol Davidson and husband Galen, Pittsburg, Ks., and Linda Salmans husband Randy, Topeka, Ks. She was preceded in death by granddaughter Kelly Jo Brookshire, son-in-law John Brookshire and a sister, Nola Randall.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday at Mason-Woodard Mortuary with burial to follow at Fullerton Cemetery, Carthage, Mo. Minister Rick Bushnell will officiate. The visitation will be 7:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. Monday at Mason-Woodard Mortuary.
Memorial contributions may be given to Camp Quality of the Ozarks Tornado Victims Memorial Fund in care of the mortuary.
Arrangements are under the direction of Mason-Woodard Mortuary & Crematory.
Age: 71
Joplin, Mo. Faith Constance Dunn, age 71, of Joplin, Mo. passed away Sunday, May 22, 2011 at her home from injuries sustained in the Joplin tornado. Faith was born November 27, 1939 in St. Thomas, Ontario, Canada. She moved to Joplin in 1964 when she enrolled at Ozark Bible College. Following her graduation from Ozark she was employed by the College for almost 20 years in the Music Department. She also taught sign language.Faith was a member of the Park Plaza Christian Church. She was an avid horseman for many years, and rode with two separate drill teams.
Faith is survived by one sister, Judy Dunn, rural Jasper, Mo., two nieces, and a nephew. She was preceded in death by her parents, Fred and Connie Dunn, and a brother, Steve Dunn.
Memorial services will be at 2:30 p.m. Sunday at the Park Plaza Christian Church with B. A. Austin, Minister, officiating. Visitation will be from 1:30 p.m. Sunday until the service at the Church. Memorial contributions are requested to Ozark Christian College. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Mason-Woodard Mortuary.
